Prince Monolulu at Mile End Market talking to a woman and young girl
Ras Prince Monolulu, a well-known horse tipster, at Mile End Market talking to a woman and a young girl, 1947. Born as Peter Mackay in 1881 in St. Croix in the American Virgin Islands, the tipster came over to Britain in the early 1900s and soon became one of the best-known and flambouyant London showmen. Until his death in 1965 he was probably the most famous black man in Britain.
