Hat
This black straw 'Berty' hat was made by Mesdames Larnie (Lady Clarke and Miss Lane) of 22 Albermarle Street in Piccadilly. It was bought by a Mrs Hands on 17 May 1923 for £3 13s 6d (£132 today).
Black straw plait forming soft crown, with wide flat brim covered in ivory silk on top, and black silk underneath. Brim extended at right side to a pointed edge and turned over to show black underside and forming a decorative loop. Trimmed with black silk wired ribbon. Original bill on paper headed 'Mesdames Larnie. Lady Clarke. Miss Lane.' survives in accession file.
