Printed Ephemera — 1990-1995
Bag, carrier bag
Plastic carrier bag advertising Bloom's restaurant at 90 Whitechapel High Street, E1, and 130 Golders Green Road, NW11. It depicts one of the restaurants. Bloom's was one of the last Jewish kosher restaurants in the East End to close. It was established in 1920 by Morris Bloom, a Lithuanian immigrant. The restaurant was located on Whitechapel High Street from 1952 until 1996. In 1965 a second restaurant opened in Golders Green, as many Jews from the East End relocated to the north London suburbs. The chefs prepare all the food to conform to Jewish dietary laws. This is checked by the Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din, the leading UK authority on kosher food.
