Shoe
Charles Johann Theodore Moykopf came to London from Waren in Mecklenburg Schwerin, northern Germany in 1854. He made and sold high quality hand made footwear like these glacé kid shoes with cut steel buckles. Moykopf’s shop was in Burlington Arcade in Piccadilly. The shoemakers John Lobb of St. James's Street purchased the firm in 1950.
The elasticated panels on the sides combine practicality with the shoes' fashionable lines, making the shoes easy to slip on and off without damaging the delicate cut-steel buckles. They would also have been more comfortable to walk in.
