Printed Ephemera — 2007
Service to Commemorate the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act
This order of service was presented to those attending the service at Westminster Abbey on 27 March 2007 to commemorate the bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act (1807). It was organised by Set All Free, a Christian organisation established to mark the bicentenary by Churches Together in England, a national body of churches. The Queen plus representatives of many faiths attended the service, which reflected on the horrors of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the courage of those who campaigned against it. It also considered the legacies of slavery, such as poverty and racism, and the forms slavery currently takes, such as people trafficking and forced labour.
