Printed Ephemera — 2006
Newroz Festival 2006
Kurdish people in London celebrated New Year on 21 March in 2006. Nine Kurdish organisations in the UK and Ireland organised events to mark this festival, which is called Newroz. This brochure provides listings of these events, a history of Newroz and an overview of Kurdish migration to the UK. It also features adverts for Kurdish businesses in London. The brochure is introduced by Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, and David Lammy, Minister of Culture. The London Assembly and Haringey, Islington, Hackney, Enfield and Croydon councils funded the publication. These are areas with large Kurdish populations.
