Printed Ephemera — 2005-2006
A sense of belonging
The Lwo Cultural Group (LCG) produced this leaflet detailing their objectives and activities. Formed in June 1991 by a group of Acholi Ugandans living in the UK, the organisation aims to promote Lwo cultural heritage and help other Acholi refugees. There are around 3000 Acholis from Northern Uganda living in the UK. The Acholi people were persecuted by Idi Amin in the 1970s. Since 1986 they have been caught up in a civil war between the Ugandan government and rebel troops. Thousands of Acholi have been murdered by forces from both sides, and their children have been conscripted as soldiers.
