Menu
A menu of the reception held at the Guildhall by the Corporation of the City of London for the Emperor of All the Russias on 18 May 1874. Printed on cream card, the menu has a gilded border decorated with white flowers and is surmounted by a view of the River Thames showing St Paul' s mirrored by an equivalent view of Moscow.
Guests were served a three course meal, beginning with starters of 'Mayonanaise de Saumon' and 'Salades de Hommard'. The main comprised a wide selection including 'Petits Poulets Rotis', 'Jambons En Aspic', ' Langue de Boeuf a L'ecarlate' and both 'Pressed Beef' and 'Roast Beef'. For dessert there was again a wide selection, including 'Gelees au Vin', 'Patisserie a la Parisienne' and 'Cremes a la Palestine'.
