Shoe
The vivid red leather of these shoes is Morocco leather, the highest, finest quality available. It was often used to cover heels to make a striking contrast with a pale or patterned shoe, for both men and women. The edges are bound in a matching silk ribbon. The shoes were worn by Mrs Blanche Lee, an ancestor of the donor, who was connected with the court through her physician husband. The silk gown worn with these shoes is also in the Museum's collection.
