Woman's shoes (pair with A13201). Upper and heel cover of green silk damask; part of a large design; this has not been matched on each shoe and the green silk binding is not a very good colour match; these shoes were not therefore made of the highest quality materials. White kid rand, leather sole. Top edge, straps, tongue, back and side seams bound with darker green silk braid. Upturned, narrow, rounded oval toe. Louis heel, 5.1 cm (H). Straight sole; worn indoors; flesh outsole; 1 + 2 ring stamps. Rand construction, white stitching. Vamp extends into medium tongue; quarters into straps, each of which has two worked laceholes for a lace. Vamp has been cut later and has two inset panels of the same material in the centre with six pairs of worked laceholes, laced with a black ribbon. Quarters and straps lined with white kid; vamp lined with natural linen; tongue originally lined with blue silk, now partly obscured by facing; white kid side-lining. Brown leather insole. Alteration maybe near contemporary to enlarge the vamps; laceholes on one strap may have been threaded through the pair of holes on one strap.
