Shoe
This pair of woman's shoes dates from the 1720s. The upper and heel cover are of a light blue and white floral silk brocade which shows signs of wear in places. The straight leather soles have been roughened to help give grip on floors. The shoes have only been worn indoors or have been protected when outside by a matching golosh, or overshoe. The shoes' lining is yellow linen and white kid with a brown leather insole. The latchets or front straps were fastened with buckles.
