Charrington & Co employees at the Anchor Brewery, Mile End
Female employees of Charrington & Co. are shown working at the Anchor Brewery in Mile End in a production line.
Founded in 1738, Charrington & Co. was an English brewery company which operated at the Anchor Brewery. Two years after this photograph was taken, the company merged with Bass, Mitchell & Butlers to form Bass Charrington Limited. The Anchor Brewery ceased production in January 1975 and the buildings have since been demolished. The site has been redeveloped as housing and offices.
