Street scene, Cannon Street
Cannon Street, looking east, c. 1930. The J. Lyons & Co. Ltd. cafe on the left was one of many scattered all over London and the Italianate-style Cannon Street Hotel on the right, built in 1867, fronted the South Eastern Railway's terminus station. The hotel was demolished in 1960 as part of British Rail's modernisation of the station.
