Printed Ephemera — 1975
All the way back to the Elephant and Castle?
This poster shows a White child asking an Indian man 'Why don't you go back to where you came from?'. The man's response is 'What? All the way back to the Elephant and Castle?' The aim of the poster is to advertise a tape and slide set commissioned especially for schools by the Race Relations Board. The tape and slides explain 'some of the efforts being made to ensure that Britain's traditional reputation for fair play lives on in multi-racial Britain'.
