Jacket
Jacket from a suit, autumn/winter 1976-77. Designed by Wendy Dagworthy.
This suit, which was made in England, consists of a tweed 'hacking' jacket, viyella blouse and skirt, and cotton waistcoat. The combination of tweed jacket and viyella skirt is unexpected but both are traditional British fabrics. The body of the jacket is lined in dark taupe fabric with small woven diamond shapes, the sleeves are lined in cream with fine stripes of grey, red and dark grey. The front opening leads to small revers and a turned back collar.
Wendy Dagworthy's designs were noted for their innovative and original combinations of pattern and fabric. The suit was the gift of the designer from her personal archive.
