Trousers, suit trousers
Trousers from a navy blue machine knitted suit, style name 'Sam', consisting of trousers and sweater with bands of red and yellow colour
The suit featured in the first knit wear collection designed and manufactured by Ritva, a label founded in 1966 by Mike and Ritva Ross. It cost 18 guineas and was sold through Simpson's Young and Gay department, Harrods Way-In and Annacat. It featured in Nova magazine in 1967.
The trousers have elastic threaded through a ribbed waistband. The legs are patterned with three sets of graduated coloured bands of yellow, red and yellow. The top 25mm red band with yellow stripes of 5mm, next the central band of 30mm red has yellow bands of 10mm and finally a deeper red band of 30mm with yellow stripes of 15mm either side.
