Doormat
This framed and glazed rubber doormat is taken from Telephone House, the former riverside headquarters of the National Telephone Company, on Temple Avenue in the City of London. Established in 1881, the NTC's network was taken over by the General Post Office after the firm was nationalised in 1912. Telephone House continued to be used by the Post Office and later British Telecom until 1997.
