A print of a woman, entitled, 'Actrice de l'Opera', with the imprint, 'A Paris chez I. Mariette rue S. Jacques aux colonnes d'Hercules'.
The actress is wearing an elaborately adorned gown with ruffled cuffs. She is wearing gloves, her hair is ornate with jewellery and various plumes and on her face are several patches (fake beauty marks made from fabric). She is depicted indoors, possibly at the opera.
The publisher of this print is Jean Mariette (1660 – 1742), who was a printmaker and publisher from France. He inherited his father’s shop at Colonnes d’Hercules in 1691.
