Printed Ephemera — 1931-1950
Simchas Torah party
Printed leaflet from the Princelet Street Synagogue in Spitalfields asking for the community to contribute funds for the relief of German and Polish Jews during the Second World War. The annual Simchas Torah Party was cancelled that year, and funds donated to the cause. Many Jews of Polish descent used the Synagogue. The text is printed in Hebrew with an English translation on one side. The leaflet was found amongst the belongings of David Rodinsky, the son of Russian Jewish immigrants who lived in a room over the Synagogue until he mysteriously disappeared in 1969 leaving his possessions behind.
