Printed Ephemera — 1893
The Thames Times & Fashionable River Gazette
The May 6th edition of the 'The Thames Times & Fashionable River Gazette', 1893. By the end of the 19th century, the upper reaches of the Thames had become highly popular destination for leisure activity and a number of publications appeared to cater for the interests of boating and river enthusiasts. This popularity was reflected in art (e.g. Edward Gregory's painting of 'Boulter's Lock, 1882-1897) and literature, (Jerome's 'Three men in a Boat', 1889 and Kenneth Graham's 'The Wind in the Willows', 1908).
