Archaeology — Roman (AD50-AD100)
Mortarium
Copy of an imported Roman mixing bowl or 'mortarium', used for crushing herbs and spices. The soft, shell-tempered clay is unlikely to have been up to the task. Found during archaeological excavations in Borough High Street, Southwark.
