Let Us Never Neglect Art
Advertising poster promoting Castudio Services Limited, a firm of commercial artists. Written in the form of a poem entitled 'Let us never neglect art' the advertisement is printed with the slogan 'Art reflects the business man's pride in his vocation Art presents worthy products in a worthy manner Art strengthens and dignifies the printed message Art fosters higher standards of service and fellowship Art banishes the humdrum from the daily round Art increases the happiness and prosperity of the community'. Below the text is an illustration of a classical Greek street scene showing men, women and soldiers washing, socialising and going about their daily business. The poster is printed in sepia brown and cream on textured paper.
Castudio Services Limited operated in London as commercial artists between 1927 and 1940. The firm first appears in the London Directories in 1927 when they were based at Russell Chambers, Covent Garden. By 1930 they had moved to 50
Ludgate Hill and, in 1934, were listed at 6-7 Creed Lane. Between 1935 and 1940 they are listed at 5 Creed Lane. They do not appear in the Directories after 1940.
