Tea caddy
Chinese black lacquer tea caddy or chest, made for the export market. The lacquer is decorated in gold with scenes depicting Chinese buildings, landscape and figures. Inside the caddy are two tin lidded canisters used for storing two varieties of loose tea. The caddy was donated to the Museum by Lady Hannon, wife of Sir Philip Hannon. It had been sent as a wedding present to Lady Hannon's Mother in 1871 by Mr. Brerton QC, the first High Court Judge to serve in the British colony of Hong Kong.
