Social History
Badge
An Air Raid Precautions Animal Guard wore this identification badge during World War II. Many domestic pets became disorientated, lost, injured or killed during air raids. Some wardens were specially trained to operate as animal guards. Their duties included the registration of lost pets and the rounding up of stray animals.
