Workbench part, glassmaker's workbench part
Glass maker's ‘chair’, used at the Whitefriaris Glassworks in Harrow. Glassmakers worked in teams ( also called 'chairs'), and the wooden bench was where the master glassblower , in effect the team leader, sat whist he manipulated the molten glass into shape. The two long arms provided a surface on which blowpipes and tools could be rested and rolled.
