Finger ring, posy ring
A plain gold posy ring with a D-sectioned hoop inscribed internally in cursive script 'Happy in thee hath God made mee' with the maker's initials 'ID' [conjoined with a barred I in Roman capitals in a lunette-shaped punch. The maker is unidentified.
See also rings numbered 62.4/131 and 62.4/179 in the Museum of London's collection and rings in the British Museum (Evans collection) inv. nos. 1961, 1202.84; 1961, 1202. 356 and Dalton - (Franks bequest) inv. no. AF. 1247 for identical marks. This mark also appears on the 1682 mark plate at Goldsmiths' Hall, London (column 9 number 37).
