Boundary mark
The City of London is divided into wards, each with their own Aldermen and members of the Court of Common Council. Historically wards were sub-divided into precincts which were often based on church parishes. As in the case of parishes, marks have traditionally been attached to walls to identify the physical boundaries of wards in the City. This mark was removed from a building in the Vintry Ward.
