Printed Ephemera — 1797
St James's Chronicle
This four page edition of The St James's Chronicle or British Evening Post newspaper covers news for the period Tuesday 21 March to Thursday 23 March 1797. As well as reporting national news including events in the houses of parliament the newspaper also gives an account of developments in the Napoleonic wars. In particular the paper notes that 'In the late engagement between Sir J. Jervis and the Spanish Fleet, Admiral Nelson of whose valour in the command of the Captain we have so often had occasion to speak, had every one of his servants on board wounded and a favourite dog killed by his side.'
