Social History — C. 1981
Badge, lapel badge
This badge's slogan 'Jobs Not Bombs' criticises Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government for its plans to replace the Polaris nuclear missile system with Trident. Trade unions and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) argued that the government should use its resources to tackle high levels of unemployment rather than invest in a new generation of nuclear weapons. The badge features the classic CND 'ban the bomb' logo.
