Arrowhead, barbed and tanged arrowhead
Flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. Dark grey colour, with light grey and white areas. One of a group of six flint arrowheads found with the remains of a dismembered wild ox or aurochs buried in a deep pit. Scientific analysis of the arrowheads has located microscopic traces of animal fats and of beeswax - the latter perhaps used to help secure the arrowheads to their wooden shafts.
