The Female Bruisers
Two women are engaged in a street brawl, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. The well-dressed woman on the left (probably a prostitute) has discarded her hat, cape and muff in the fight, which have been picked up by the three chimney sweeps on the left. She is being revived by the man holding a lemon to her face. The woman on the right has fallen to the ground but her fists are still clenched and she is being helped to her feet to resume the fight.
In the left-hand corner, two cockerels mirror the fighting action below a window scene where two lovers are kissing. A torn play-bill can be seen nearby advertising 'The Rival Queens', implying that the women depicted here are love rivals.
