Silver gelatin negative
Preparations for the Festival of Britain. The emblem of the Festival can be seen on the large panel in this photograph. The ‘Festival Star’ was designed by Abram Games who was the winner of a competition held to find a logo which reflected a ‘summer of gaiety and good looks’. The logo features red, white and blue flags and the head of Britannia inside a compass rose with points North, South, East and West.
