Printed Ephemera — 1900
My London Country Lane
My London Country Lane was written by Edgar Bateman, composed by Albert Perry and sung by Alec Hurley.
The music hall star Alec Hurley appears on this song-sheet cover. He was one of London's most popular 'coster comedians', performers who adopted the humour and cockney rhyming slang of London's barrow traders to sing of poverty and the realities of working-class life. Alec was married to the music-hall singer and comedienne Marie Lloyd. He died in 1913.
