Printed Ephemera — 1951
Guide to the Exhibition of Architecture, Town-Planning and Building Research
Catalogue for the Exhibition of Architecture at Poplar, held for the Festival of Britain, 1951. The exhibition included displays about modern principles of town planning, construction and building research. The 'Live' architecture exhibition consisted of real houses, flats, churches, schools, shops and a market place built to replace a war-damaged East End neighbourhood. At the entrance to the exhibition was a large crane, which symbolised the promise of the reconstruction of the bomb-damaged city. Also on show was 'Gremlin Grange', a shoddily-built house with crooked floors and leaking pipes which showed the perils of poor quality construction.
