The Ratcatcher's Daughter
Song sheet cover for 'The Ratcatcher's Daughter' composed and sung by Sam Cowell. On the cover is an illustration of a ragged ratcatcher against a backdrop of London and the river Thames. Sam Cowell (1820-1864) was one of London's first music hall stars. He was brought up in America where his British father performed as a comedian. On returning to London at the age of twenty Sam Cowell made his name as a singer, especially through such popular songs such as 'The Ratcatcher's Daughter' and 'Vilikins and his Dinah' which he performed at Evans' Song and Supper Rooms to great acclaim.
