Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius coin of Emperor Hadrian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 117-138. The back of the coin depicts Aeternitas, the female personification of eternity. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 120-122.
Obv: Radiate bust of Hadrian, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: [IMP CAESAR TRAIAN]VS HADRIANVS A[VG PM TR P COS III]. Rev: Aeternitas, standing left, holding the head of Sol (the sun) in her right hand and the head of Luna (the moon) in her left hand. Rev inscription: AETERNIT[AS AVGVSTI], SC in field.
