Bag, paper bag
Small 'Maison Lyons Confectionery' paper bag. Buff coloured paper (possibly originally orange coloured but now faded), with orange string handle. Used as packaging for individual confectionery items, such as chcolates, made by J Lyons and company and sold in the take-away food hall section of their teashops and restaurants. The bag was produced during World War II and includes the government propaganda message that was printed on all recyclable material during the war 'National Salvage Campaign Your Country needs Paper Save your empty carriers with your other waste paper'.
