Card, valentine card

Handfinished valentine's card comprising a white inner or back sheet. The front has an embossed floral border design surrounding a centrally applied chromo-lithographed portrait showing the head and shoulders of a young girl framed by a wreath of green embossed paper leaves. Above is a sheet of perforated lace paper, part gilded and embossed with the same floral design as the solid sheet beneath. The central area of this top sheet is open revealing the portrait below. Also applied is a paper drape printed 'From a dear friend'. One of a collection of cards stored within a scrapbook compiled by Jonathan King numbered 'Volume 1166'.
