Card, valentine card
Multi-layered, handfinished valentine's card comprising an undersheet of white lace paper by Kershaw heavily embossed with a design incorporating flowers, foliage and two reclining figures in the lower part of the card. Through the central open area can be seen a cream satin panel applied to the undersheet with an applied coloured embossed paper cherub releasing doves from a cage. Through the two side panels can be seen two applied silver and white classical style vases of silver and white embossed paper filled with flowers. At the bottom of the card is a paper cartouche printed 'Accept the Tribute of Sincere Friendship'. The sheet by Windsor is stamped with a diamond registration mark dated 1855.
