Card, valentine card
Handfinished valentine's card comprising a sheet of silver and white lace paper embossed with a border design incorporating cameo figures, flowers, foliage and an archway surrounding a centrally applied cream satin panel. Applied to the panel is a gilded paper vase filled with coloured and frosted embossed paper flowers and leaves. Below is applied a paper cartouche printed with the motto 'May Happiness be ever thine'. The sheet is stamped with the manufacturers diamond shaped registration mark dated 1856. One of a collection of cards stuck within a scrapbook compiled by J.King numbered '37'. This card is applied to 'page 9' of the scrapbook headed '6d Queens No 11'.
