Card, valentine card
Handfinished valentine's card comprising a top sheet of white lace paper embossed with a design incorporating an image of lovers seated within a garden. In the centre is an oval panel handpainted with a pink flower, below is applied a paper scroll printed 'Ever faithful, Ever Constant'. Beneath is a plain, turquoise green sheet inserted to enhance the lace paper design of the sheet above. One of a collection of cards stuck within a scrapbook compiled by J.King numbered '37'. This card is applied to 'page 2' and headed '16 mo Lace hand painted valentines No 1 1856 457'.
