Column at Hadley near Barnet, in commemoration of the battle between Edward IV and the Earl of Warwick
Column at Hadley near Barnet, in commemoration of the battle between Edward IV and the Earl of Warwick. There is a broad road leading either side of the central column, and a covered wagon is leaving an inn on the left, while a more distant carriage passes wayside buildings including another inn. The Battle of Barnet in 1471 established the Yorkist Edward IV on the throne; the column was erected in 1740 by Sir Jeremy Sandbrook. For Dr Hughson's Description of London. The descriptive cutting is a gazeteer entry for Barnet.
