Fleet Market
Fleet Market, situated where Farringdon Street now runs. An Act of Parliament of 1733 permitted the Fleet River from Fleet Street to Holborn to be enclosed. This meat and vegetable market was built over the river; the clock tower stood in the centre. It was demolished in 1826-30 to allow Farringdon Street to be built. Published in Partington's National History and Views of London, 1832. Volume I, page 61.
