George Carleton (1559-1628), Bishop of Chichester. "Vera Effigies Rdi. in Christo Patris Georgii Carleton Episc/pi. Cicestriensis" with quotations in Latin & Greek appended. As Bishop of Llandaff he represented the Church of England at the synod of Dort he upheld the doctrine of apostolic succession in opposition to any levelling, after whch he was appointed to Chichester.
