Hopkins, The Witch Finder
Hopkins, The Witch Finder "from a rare print". Matthew Hopkins reign as self-appointed Witchfinder General in the years 1645-1647 led to the deaths of at least 100 women and trials and investigation of many more. Hopkins came from Manningtree in Essex and may have returned there after his methods were impugned and he lost power, although an alternative record has him tried and hanged.
