Sir William Waller
Sir William Waller, from a picture by Walker in the collection of the Earl of Harcourt. Waller (1597-1668) was a leading Parliamentary commander in southern England during the first three years of the Civil War, later a political leader of the Presbyterian faction in the House of Commons. He was involved in the negotiations for the return of Charles II, was an MP in the transitional 'Convention' parliament and then retired into private life.
