Mr T.P. Cooke as Tom Trim
Theatrical souvenir plate engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr T.P.Cooke in the role of Tom Trim. Applied to the portrait is clothing of shaded silk and cotton embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments. The portrait has been cut from a paper sheet and mounted onto card hanpainted with background scenery. Printed on the card is 'Coloured and sold Wholesale & Retail by J.Redington, at his theatrical print, play & tinsel warehouse, 208 Hoxton Old Town and Jonathan King, 45 Chapel St Somers Town'. Portraits like this would have been sold for 1d plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
