Drum, Isukuti drum
The Adzido Pan African Dance Ensemble use this Isukuti drum during their performances. It is a hollow wooden drum carved on both sides with a Gye Nyame symbol, which represents the omnipotence of god. The top of the drum is covered with snakeskin held in place with wooden pegs. Isukuti is a dance performed by the Luhya tribe, who live in the western province of Kenya. It is a social dance performed by both sexes, mainly during happy occasions such as marriages, circumcisions, or at harvest time.
