Shoe, dance shoe
These English-made 'Supadance' dancing shoes were worn by a member of the Oaktree Old Time Dance Club. The shoes have an open toe and buckle fastening. The enclosed heel and buckle area is covered in a plain silver coloured leather, the toe area is covered by small pieces of silver glitter. The shoes have a 75 mm high heel. The soles are covered with grey chamois leather. The inner sole is of black felt stamped in gold 'Luxury Dance Shoes Supadance Made in England'.
Members of the club explained, 'Dancing shoes are very important to both ladies and gentlemen. On arrival at the venue, they change into their dancing shoes. Ladies' shoes are gold, silver, black or coloured to match their dresses. They are soft and comfortable, enabling dancers to enjoy their dancing now and into the next Millennium'. The club was founded in 1987 and had 70 members in 2000.
