Social History — 1996
Souvenir log
This presentation log was produced by the children of the Stepney Children's Fund as thanks to Lord Northbourne for letting them camp on his estate. A list of the names of the children who attended the camp site in 1996 is written on the log. The log was donated to the Collecting 2000 project by the Stepney Children's Fund, which wrote:
'This presentation log marked the 10th anniversary of special summer camps for children from London's East End. The camps represent carefree moments in lives that are often troubled and, for some, will end tragically. Three of the children from the 1996 camps are now dead. A number are in prison, are addicted to drugs or in other difficulties. Our hope for the Millennium is better lives for all children.'
